Lullaby 8

 

Lullaby 8 is about the time it takes to transition. About the process of digesting emotions, feelings, which are actually a transition. Digestion, during which the body is getting full and building in a new quality. Digestion as a process, which is static and dynamic at the same time.

 

Since the beginning of the full-scale invasion, it was the song that often became for me a tool of transition, stitching together different realities within myself. It was Ukrainian authentic song that was able to contain such a volume of feelings, due to the fact that it is the mother tongue’s language.

 

In my work, I try to follow how the power of the text is lost during its translation. 

 

The book uses the text of the song in Ukrainian and Finnish. 

The work was made during Saari residency in Finland.
